MASTER ANXIETY. FIND RELIEF. CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT.
Anxiety Counselor in Hawaii
You’re tired of anxiety taking over your life.
IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT FEELING STRESS AND WORRY SOMETIMES; IT’S ALSO THE STRUGGLE YOU FEEL WITHIN YOUR BODY AND MIND
Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life and is helpful to a certain degree. If you think about it, it's that feeling of anxiety that pushed you to study before your test. However, sometimes, that feeling continues to live inside us, leading us to feel constantly overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious. It feels unpleasant and uncomfortable. From the non-stop or sometimes repetitive thoughts to distressed sensations within your body, like a racing heart, jitters, difficulty breathing, and maybe even nausea. Not to mention, it's affecting your relationships and your ability to handle your personal and work tasks.
Does this sound like you?
-
Despite your efforts to improve your sleep, your mind continues to race at night, making it difficult to sleep or stay asleep for a reasonable amount of time. You start your days the same way you end them, exhausted.
-
Your mind is like an internet browser with endless open tabs. If one thing doesn't want to be front and center, it is another that tries to take space. That doesn't even include the new tabs that get added and opened daily. Sometimes, it gets so overwhelming that you procrastinate, only for your anxiety to get worse.
-
You have a creative imagination that creates different "what if" scenarios, and you continue to worry and fear about actual situations, situations you can't control, and those that were unfounded and created by you.
-
You seek constant validation and reassurance from your partner about many situations, such as your relationship with them, your upcoming work presentation, or the social gathering you both will attend. You're worried it's too much for your partner, and you want to stop, but you can't help yourself.

Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. However, people with anxiety disorders often have disproportionate fear and worry about a variety of scenarios that do not match the actual danger posed. They may experience several of the following: agitation, loss of energy, difficulty focusing, irritability, muscular tension, and difficulty sleeping.
-
A combination of genetic and environmental factors can cause anxiety. Stressful life events, such as trauma, significant changes, or ongoing stress, can trigger or worsen anxiety. Also, brain chemistry, family history, underlying health issues, and medication side effects can contribute to anxiety.

There are various strategies for managing anxiety, which we can explore in greater depth in individual therapy. Different methods work for each person. These techniques include mindfulness and relaxation tools, such as deep breathing and meditation, and lifestyle habits like exercise, journaling, and nutrition. Another important aspect we can explore in therapy is examining how you relate to your thoughts.

I use the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach. Its purpose is to enhance psychological flexibility, which is the ability to be fully present, be open to experience whatever feelings or thoughts may arise and take actions that align with our values. Alongside ACT, I integrate mindfulness and somatic techniques such as deep breathing and body awareness. Together, these tools can help promote relaxation and reduce physical symptoms of anxiety. Additionally, we will explore different lifestyle habits such as nutrition, exercise, journaling, and scheduling to support overall well-being as part of our holistic approach.
