ABOUT JUDY HOLYFIELD, LCSW
Bring inner peace and self compassion back into your life
I’m an Integrative Psychotherapist in Hawaii who specializes in helping people overcome anxiety, trauma, or body image issues.
I JUST WANT TO SAY:
I am so glad you are here and taking steps towards your healing.
Gone are the days of feeling tired, overwhelmed, and awful! These feelings negatively impact your relationships with yourself and others. It’s time to rewrite the patterns that are keeping you stuck and move forward toward the life you want.
HOW I WORK
I believe in providing comprehensive and holistic care for long-term and sustainable wellness.
My passion and goal is to help you gain relief from the symptoms that brought you into therapy and equip you with the healing and tools to care for your whole self (mind, body, and soul). This will lead to long-term and sustainable wellness. I incorporate a Christian perspective for those who want to integrate their faith into counseling. However, this is unnecessary, and if you choose to, I provide an inclusive space to discuss and explore your faith.
I'm a therapist who values my relationships with my clients, and I see it as the foundation of our work together. It's my goal to create a safe and comfortable space where we can explore your struggles and uncover and heal your deepest wounds together.
Our journey starts with us getting to know each other. You will get a sense of me, and I will get the honor of understanding you, your strengths, difficulties, quirks, values, and goals. We will work together to determine what is holding you back from the life you want. I will be alongside you as we uncover those and provide you with the insights and tools to move forward. You will step into the vibrant and confident person you want to be.
YOU WANT TO KNOW THAT WHO YOU CHOOSE AS YOUR THERAPIST WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH THE PROPER CARE THAT YOU DESERVE. HONESTLY, YOU’VE BEEN THROUGH TOO MUCH TO RECEIVE ANYTHING LESS.
I'm human. I’m constantly improving my skills and knowledge base for my clients. However, I have experience working with children who were placed in foster care through no fault of their own and aided them in navigating their feelings of being separated from their parents and possibly even siblings. I’ve partnered with clients who witnessed domestic violence within the family or were themselves the survivors of this heartache. I’ve helped those who have coped with their horrific pasts with substance use or self-harming behaviors, hoping to either feel or numb their emotions. I’ve counseled those who have served our country (service members and their families) as they have dealt with difficulties associated with the lifestyle or through what they witnessed during their service. All to say that whatever you bring to therapy, you don't have to carry it alone. I can be there alongside you, helping you carry, unpack, and slowly drop some of the things weighing you down.
THERAPY WITH ME IS…
-
Working with me involves examining internal factors (health, nutrition, sensations, sleep, thoughts, emotions) as well as external factors (events, relationships, habits, and actions taken) to identify what factors are helpful and unhelpful to you feeling better in your body, relationships, and life.
-
I will be your cheerleader and someone who challenges you when I notice you minimizing your capabilities and worth. I will challenge you to confront your self-imposed limits and take action to achieve your goals.
-
You will not be alone in your journey. Together, we will identify your goals, values, and priorities. We will then work together to determine your next steps. I will also help you navigate your thoughts and emotions alongside you during our time together.
-
I understand that you are unique, and I treat you and our work together similarly. I will work with you for however long YOU would like and need -whether you would like long-term therapy or want to work on one current concern. Therapy can be emotionally challenging, and we will work at YOUR pace. I will work with you on YOUR GOALS. I will provide different tools, and we will determine which ones work for YOU and which ones YOU would like to practice further in sessions.
MY GUIDING PRINCIPLES/VALUES
-
I see you. I hear you. I accept you. I value you.
We thrive through connection, which fuels our growth and healing. This value underpins everything I do.
-
Break free and reclaim your life.
Everyone (yes, you, too) deserves to live authentically and remove the shackles of negative thought patterns, dysregulated emotions, etc., that keep you from living the life you want.
-
Embrace learning and unlock growth.
I may not always get it right, but I am committed to learning. This value is the lens through which I view everything.

WHY Optimum Health Counseling?
My philosophy behind naming this practice "Optimum Health Counseling" embodies a holistic approach to well-being. Traditionally, therapy or counseling is associated mainly with "mental health," yet I felt this term didn't fully encapsulate the depth of collaborative work I aim to undertake with my clients. I believe in helping you improve your physical health, emotional resilience, mental clarity, and nurturing your relationships and spirituality. By choosing this name, I hope to empower and equip you to create optimal health in your life.
